backup outlook contacts with notes

How do I correctly backup outlook contacts, inbox, and sent folder? In the
past I’ve gone to the outlook file menu, Import/export then export files to
Microsoft Access. After importing the same files through Microsoft Access,
email content, attachments in inbox and sent folder, as well as notes of
contacts are erased.
 
Why would you export to backup data? There's no need to change the data
format.
Assuming you are not running against Exchange Server, just make a copy of
your Outlook Data File.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
