Hi

If I backup my data using backup, and if my computer is damaged and I need
to reinstall, will I be able to restore my files?

I tried backing up my files to a shared folder and using another computer to
restore the files but the medium was not recognised by the other machine.

Many thanks in advance
Richard

When you write "using backup", I assume that you mean
"ntbackup.exe".

ntbackup.exe is a very basic backup program. It can be
difficult to use and if you lose your hard disk then you
must install a temporary copy of Windows before you
can use ntbackup.exe to restore your files. I suggest you
look at a third-party solution such as Acronis. Many of
them include the facility to burn a bootable CD, to be
used for restoring Windows to a blank disk.

I also suggest you use a hard disk in an external USB
case as your backup medium.
