Backup from XP to XP and 2K

Using Backup in System Tools, I want to backup files from this XP computer
and another XP to a laptop running 2k Professional.

7 minutes into the 2+ hour backup it stop with "the requested media is not
properly inserted. Do you want to continue?" Answering "Yes" produces the
same question.

Any help much appreciated.

When this happens, can you access the other computer's shared drive across
the network, in Explorer?

What kind of network connection do you have between the two?
