I need to backup the files on this PC inorder to clean
install a copy of Win2K. Right now I am using Win ME and I
cannot figure out how to backup all of the data. After all
of the data is backed up and I install Win2K, how do I
restore all of the file and program data?? I have never
done this before and any help would be very much
appreciated.
Also, the reason I am not just upgradeing is because half
way through the installation process I get an error
message and I am forced to abort. Thanks for the help.

If you are doing an upgrade from WinMe to Win2K, you will have to
register your program files and reinstall them anyway.
Try copying your Win2K files to the Hard Drive and do the upgrade from
there. It worked for me. Don't do clean install
until you back up your important files. Do you have a CD-RW drive that
you can copy them to?

The easiest thing is probably to burn all your data to
CDs, or if you have one lying around, onto a spare hard
disk. Don't bother trying to backup software - it's best
to reinstall.

The reason why you couldn't 'upgrade' from ME to 2K is
that there's no upgrade path between the two OSs.
