Can anyone tell me how I can have my system back up
overnight? I would like to be able to back up
my "Documents" file and all it contents. Not sure if
there is a way to have it zip and save to my cd rw.

Thanks in advance.

You can set up scheduled backups with the NTBACKUP tool that comes
with Windows XP. Alternatively you could write a batch file for a
simple file copy operation. I recommend that you use XXCopy
(http://www.xxcopy.com) for that purpose.

Thanks very much!!

Actually just tried looking at the xxcopy and I don't
think I am that advanced. I cannot find the nt backup
utility in xp. I tried looking on the help page for xp
and they say to go into accessories and use the backup
command but I do not have that. Strange. Any ideas?

Backup is no a part of the default install for XP Home Edition. If you have
a retail version of XP Home Edition:

Go to the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder on the XP Home Edition CD and
install ntbackup manually by double clicking the file.

However, if you have a manufacturer supplied recovery disk or partition or
some other proprietary CD, ntbackup is often not included by the
manufacturer. If that is the case, there are many backup applications that
can do the job. The version on XP is a lite version Backup MyPC of which
there's usually a trial version available at the following site if you wish
to test before buying:
