Why is my backup PST file smaller than my ouylook file? Also, why
can't the system find my PST files when I do a search? --George

How do you back-up? An export is not a 100% back-up of your data (you'll
loose custom forms and views for instance). Just copy the file to a save
location when Outlook is closed

Make sure you include hidden and system files and folders when searching for
pst-file.

By default it is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

You can also locate the file by using
Rightclick the root folder (probably Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button
Advanced-> field Filename

Hmmmm, I found other PST files with other names. When I try to import
them I don't have access to the Local Settings folder....how do I go
around this?

Are they in your Documents and Settings folder or from someone else? If from
someone else you'll need to log on as an administrator or as that user to
access it.

Also don't import; use File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... instead

I have two folders. One for XP Home, and a second when I upgraded to
XP Pro. I can't access the first one.....

Can you access it when logged on as the administrator?
