I have just installed an external HDD as a backup facility. It is working
well but I am trying to schedule automatic backup through the XP Backup
facility. The drive does not appear on the list in this facility at all.
I have checked through Disk Management, and it is listed there as J drive
and healthy, I just can't seem to schedule it.
I have also tried formatting it.
I want to know too if I can schedule it to automatically backup Outlook
Express folders? There doesn't seem to be a lot of flexibility within the
Backup Wizard.
Thanks
Elaine

If I may be so bold as to not answer your question...

I do think that there are a few issues at stake here. First the backup
utility is really NOT very good and I honestly recommend a third party
application for this. My personal favorite is Acronis products.

If you want to backup the OE folders - and that's all you want to backup -
then you can review the SyncToy from Microsoft which seemingly does a decent
job at it so long as they're not in use I understand. I've not, honestly,
used it for anything other than to poke at it a couple of times to see if I
could make it explode.

For me and incremental backup scheduled nightly is the only way to fly. I
save a 3 month image and a single bare-metal image and call it good. I guess
it's up to you but using the backup application with XP is really not going
to be as effective as you can get and with the price of software as it is
the third party solution really isn't a bad idea in my opinion.
