backup email in vista

I get different answers as to whether I can back up my email and contacts
using Win backup and restore. I've been backing up on a DVD, but can't tell
if it works for email, contacts, or favorites? thanks...Mike

Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, Windows Vista backup & Restore Center...Mike
