i am an idiot, so someone please tell me in basic terms
how to back up documents onto a floppy disc,,,,,,,i have
recently upgraded from windows 98 to windows xp home
edition, and i have never backed up anything,,,please help

thanks

Left click on a document and use the 'send to' feature.. or drag and drop
onto the 'a' drive..

We all were "idiots" about computers at one point in time. Ask questions
and read stuff and never opologize for being new to all this.... Good Luck..

Unless your mouse is configured that way, you need to
RIGHT-click the closed document and "Send To" 31/2 Floppy
(A:). If the document is open, you can use from the Menu
Bar File, Save As and Save in: 31/2 Floppy (A:) found in
the search box under My Computer.

If you have the XP CD, look in a folder called ValuePack (or something like
that) and install the "NTBackup" program. It's a "proper" backup program
(but you'll need to wade through the Help). Using "Send To" is fine for the
odd document, but when you have files all over the place and want to do
things properly, then you'll need NTBackup. If you get into the habit now,
you'll be glad of it one day.
