backup desktop, favorites, documents?

If a profile is corrupt and you want to backup the desktop, favorites, and
documents to transfer to new profile, what is the easiest way to do it? Is
the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard the way to do it. That seems to be
for transferring from one computer to another. Can you use it for profiles
on one computer?
