When I save files from the internet onto my harddrive I
get the file and a folder with the file name and _files
extension. However after restoring the _files didn't
restore and I seem to have the contents instead. How can I
save internet files and the associated folder?

Thank you
Regards
Greg

Thanks Sharon - The problem is that I backed the directory which
contained saved websites ie filexxx.htm and the corresponding
filexxx_files folder using XP backup. When I restored the files the
"_files" folders where missing like if they where deleted, however,
all "_files" folders contents (gif's ets) were combined in the same
directory. How do I backup and have the "_files" folders remain
complete.

I wonder if this is particular to your burning program. Have never run into
this with sites I have saved to CD and later transferred back to the hard
drive.

Some of the burning programs have trouble with long paths - especially when
*not* using packet writing. You could try shortening paths to see if that
helps.

You may want to try zipping those pages and corresponding folders before
burning.

Or save the sites as MHT files instead of file/folder combos. MHT will plop
the page and folder contents into one large file. That would avoid the two
piece scenario that's giving you so much trouble.
