Backspace wont delete highlighted text

Hi

When I highlight things in such programs as Word etc the
backspace key no longer deletes what is highlighted,
the 'delete' button still works.

The backspace button isnt faulty, it deletes when nothing
is highlighted.

Is there a keyboard property which can be changed?

Dan,

Were you able to find out what was wrong? I'm having exactly the same problem.
- It's only in Word -- Powerpoint and email are fine
- Backspace key no longer deletes what is highlighted
- It's a pain to highlight then remember to reach up to the Delete button for deleting highlighted text

If you or any others know what to do, would appreciate input.

Dan / Stacy,

In Word, under the Tools menu, select Options, then click on the Edit tab
and check the box " Typing replaces selection". That should return your
backspace key to deleting selected text.
