Backspace button wont delete highlighted text

Hi

My keyboard's backspace button will not remove
highlighted things. It will work when nothing is
highlighted, removing once letter at a time.

I was wandering if anyone knew how I could change this
back to the way it was before this started happening.

Any replies are much appreciated.
