I recently installed Office 2003 Professional. All apps
are working properly except Powerpoint. If I type the
backspace or arrows keys while editing slide the key
strokes produce special charcters like a square, percent,
apotrophe, parentheses etc. How can I correct this? I
just want backspace to actually backspace. :)

thanks

Thanks for the suggestion sonia... I wish it were that
easy. :) It's really weird and is really annoying me...
it's pretty hard to put a quick pres together when some
fundamental keys are not operating right. I don't know
what the heck I did to lock it in this mode. If it is a
mode I have no idea what value it has either. :) Thanks
again for the response.

Another user posted this some time back:

"After working very closely with Microsoft (even having
one of their senior engineers come on site), we think we
have the answer. It requires upgrading to Windows XP SP1
and then applying the 821432 hotfix patch (SP1 is pre-
requisite before applying the hotfix). The hotfix
updates the WIN32K.SYS driver.

If you are an end-user you may not be able to get the
patch. The hotfix itself will be included in Windows XP
SP2 whenever that comes out. "

Might be worth trying WinXP SP2
