Backpack DVD Driver

I have a MicroSolutions portable Backpack DVD/CD-Rom and when I
attempt to install the driver, I get "Function Driver not Specified."
Unfrotunately MicroSolutions is out of business and while their last
driver update works for XP SP 2, it apparently doesn't work for
Vista. Any suggestions that might allow me to install the driver?
 
There are no good suggestions for this request. If the driver won't
install, forcing it to install using a compatibility mode is pretty much an
invitation to disaster somewhere down the road.
