Backing Up Using Vista Premium doesn't work

On a new computer with 2 gb RAM and 1 250 Gb HD, I tried the Windows Vista
backup (of my docs and my pics, ~25 GB). It took an hour to write the first
DVD, and the second DVD showed in properties only 384mb written after 2
hours, so I quit the process. I didn't get a warning and was unable to check
the status, other than the backup window that showed a bar that didn't seem
to move. Any thoughts?

Hello Onlooker,

Well, the backup utility should work properly, provided you give it enough
time to do its job. If you quit the process in-between or disconnect the
drive that you are writing to the process will automatically stop and the
backup will remain unfinished.

So I would give the job adequate time so that it can finish, and it should
work. And another thing, have you considered writing the backup to an
external drive? DVDs might be too tedious since you say you have quite a lot
of data. In that case I would highly recommend you consider getting a
usb/firewire external hard drive or something similar that is going to get
the job done faster.
