Does Windows XP Professional have a burning function to enable one to backup certain files and folders on their hard drive

If so, where does one find this feature for WINXP Pro, and does the "help file" contain directions to guide one through the first backup of a data file

Thanks for any advice you can send my way

The Backup program that is found in Programs->Accessories->System Tools does
not have CD Burning capabilities. You can use a work around
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/saving_files_to_cd.htm or look at third
party software like Backup MyPC
http://downloads.zdnet.co.uk/downloads/detail/1002-2242-10176011.html

Actually, and I didn't know this until recently, if you use a CDRW disk that
is formatted for packet writing, NTBackup WILL backup directly to the CD.

That's one of the work around methods that is mentioned at Harry's site. I
like his mapped network drive method too. Keep in mind that even though you
can coerce NT Backup to write to a CD, it is not capable of spanning
multiple CDs. That means if your backup file is larger than what fits on a
single CD, you're out of luck.

New here ! Hi
I back up my registry, by sending to my Registry folder in my documents,
then drag and drop to the desktop, r. click, then burn to a cd. There
might be an easier way, but this works for me. I guess I could even send
it the cd writer from the folder, but never tired that. New at this pc
stuff.
