I created batch file to backup (copy) critical files on
my computer to another workstation. I included file
Outlook.pst in it. But looks like I have to close Outlook
at night to perform backup. If Outlook 2003 is open ,
the "copy" function does not copy the file.
I do not use Windows backup due to systems problems. My
question is...how do I copy outlook.pst file if Outlook
is open?
Thanks for your answer in advance.

You can't. You'll need to close Outlook before you can back-up the file. For
this I've made a script that kills Outlook before starting the back-up and
then start Outlook again when the back-up is done so it can start to collect
mail again. Because forcefully closing Outlook never is a good thing you
should run scanpst.exe every now and then to see how your pst-file handles
the killing process.

You can find the script at the top of the download section here;
