I want to back up my files but first it says I have to
have the original installation discs for windows xp...the
problem is I don't have any...it was already installed
in my computer when I purchased it. Any ideas?

You should be aware that XP Backup will not permit you to backup to a CDR.
You have to backup to a file on your hard disc and then use Copy to copy it
to a CDR. You are therefore denied using differential backup.
You require a proprietary programme to do that
