I keep copies of all personal files on a Zip disk, "just in case" I should
ever have to format and reinstall Windows.
What is the easiest and safest way to similarly back up Address Book and
Favorites?
Could I just copy them and drag them back after reinstalling Windows--just
as with Word documents?

for your favourites, which is in the \documents and
settings\"username"\favorites, you can either choose to
copy the entire folder, which is easier or one by one. as
for your address book, you did not mention what mail
client s/w you are using, but i assume it to be outlook
express. if that is the case, you can export the address
book as a *.wab file which you can then import whenever
it is required.
