Hi - which files do I need to save to backup all my emails and contacts and where are they located? I am using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP Professional. Thanks.

Hi Charlie

You may export your mailbox to a pst file. To do it, simple click File,
Export or Import, then export to a pst file.
If you want to backup the contacts only, i suggest you to export it to a csv
file.

Do NOT export as you will loose custom forms and views and some other
settings.

Simply copy your pst-file to your back-up location. It contains all data. If
you want to export just your Contacts you can do this by the import/export
wizard and save it to a pst-file only use a csv-folrmat when you want to
import them in another program.

Make sure you include hidden and system files and folders when searching for
pst-file.

By default it is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

You can also locate the file by using
Rightclick the root folder (probably Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button
Advanced-> field Filename

What made you think that? Also making a back-up ins't relevant then as that
is the job of the Exchange administrator.
