I have Dell Home Premium Edition.

My understanding is that Dell has some special software available to
do backup and restore.

Does anyone know where I can get more information?

The logical place to look would be Dell tech support. Also look at your
computer manual and the purchase documents to see what options you
purchased.

Those sare the first places I looked. Dell Tech Support just told me
to copy my files to an external USB Drive -- but of course that
doesn't address the issue of reimaging.

Why didn't you say so in your first post? Some Dell computers come with
a trial version of Norton Ghost preinstalled. You would know if you have
this option and/or if you purchased a full version of Ghost. Also some
Dell computers come with a recovery partition. Again, you would be the
one to know that - not people reading your posts in a newsgroup. Look at
your computer. Look at the manual. Look at what is installed. Look at
your purchasing documents to see what you bought.

If you don't have an imaging program or restore partition, you can
purchase an external hard drive and imaging software. I like Acronis
True Image.
