I have just had this computer for ten months (after
exploring on my son's computer for over a year, but he is
gone), and appreciate any assistance available. I just
installed the Windows XP SP2, from disc, and have bought
a 256MB San Disk Cruzer Mini USB Flash Drive to download
all the important information from my computer. There is
nothing with it to show me how to do this, and I have not
been able to find anything on the computer to help. I
would like a list of steps to take to download unto the
memory stick whatever is important to save. I use Home,
but know that a program is available on the Professional
section of the setup disc that is used for backing up
data. Should I try to download part of the professional
program? And how? Thanks for any advice you can send.
Jean.

You're referring to the NTBACKUP program. It is not installed, by default on XP Home.

HOW TO: Install Backup from the CD-ROM in Windows XP Home Edition

However, for a drive that small, you're probably just as well off using Windows Explorer and dragging/dropping the files that you need to back up.
