I'd like to back up all my files onto CD-RWs on a year by
year basis, i.e. all records created in 2000 on one disk,
those in 2001 on another, etc.
Is there a way to do this automatically or do I need to do
it manually?
No way to do it automatically that I can think of.
You need to sort out the records from one year from the others, than
copy them to CD.
If the dates are incorporated in the filenames, use Search to bring up a
list of results. You can perform quite a few file operations right from
that search results list.
Another method: Set the View in Windows Explorer to Details. You can use
the header bars for any column as a sort method. Pick the one that best
aids you to identify the files you're after. By default Windows Explorer
will show "date modified" in Details view. By using View> Choose
Details... from the menu bar, you get several different details to
choose from. "Date Created" could be helpful for sorting records from
different years.
