backgrounds in powerpoint presentation

Can I use different backgrounds in one presentation on
different slides? When I click on the background for a
certain slides it is changing all of my slides to this
same background. I have tried using the button apply to
certain slides but this is not working. Please help me
with this problem!

What version of PowerPoint are you using? See the info at
