I am not home so I may not be exactlt correct without looking at my program as well. Try messing around with the fill, and trasparency. It is in there. That you can lighten it alittle. Also, you can lighten or darken your font color as well.
You can wash out the picture, but to me it is too washed out. Play around with the fill, colors and look around within the windows until you see these. Also, right click on the picture its'self, and go to format picture. That will take you to the picture toolbar. You can play around with that. You can wash out your picture with that as well.
