Background disappears

Has anyone else had a problem with their background image
disappearing? I have sorted out the vast majority of the other problem
with my XPe image and now I am down to odd stuff like this. I set the
background to my company's logo and it shows it in the preview window
of display properties. If I apply it, the image shows up on the
desktop until I reboot and then the image no longer shows up. If I go
back into display properties, my background is still selected and
shows up in the preview window, but is not visible on the desktop. I
can then select None for the desktop, apply, select my picture, apply,
and the image shows up on the desktop again. That is until I reboot
again and then it goes away. This is just a standard bmp background
and I am not using Active Desktop functionality.

Thanks for any help
Mike

Hi mike,

Is your image favouring the ewf .In that case i guess it has
something to do with it.Just a thought disable the ewf and give a
try. However if that is not the case then,I would track the changes
over the registry on a full xp during the changes and compare with
that of xpe.Probably it is losing those entries at the restart. If it
is any kind of generic value then it can be put in but if it is
specific to that of the image ,then you might need to check for some
dependency leak or missing dependency that, might give this kind of
problem.

Well this is only a guess , Im sure there could be something else ..

Unfortunately I am not using EWF. Like I said the weird thing is that
my background is still selected and shows up in the little preview
pane in Display properties but it does not show on my desktop. If I
select none for a background, then apply, then reselect my background
and apply, my background shows until I reboot.

I have tried other background images and they acted the same. I tried
jpgs as a background and it was the same. I enabled the Active Desktop
and loaded my logo that way, and it was the same.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Mike

I have the exact same problem, and would highly appreciate
solution..

We too have experienced this exact issue. We replaced every registry
entry, default background, etc... with our background but we still,
often at random times, have the background disappear. Definitely not
an EWF thing. Any other ideas?
