T Tony Jollans Jan 14, 2008 #2 Word's options in this area are limited. Click on the Office button, then Word Options. In the Popular tab there is an option for Colour scheme - changing it to silver or black might help. Alternatively, working in Draft View might help.

In addition to using Draft View to cut down on the amount of background color, one could use Text Width in Print Layout View (in Word 2007). To navigate there: View | Zoom | Text Width David
