Backfilling Information into Business Contact Manager

I have been creating records in Business Contact Manager for Accounts and Contacts, and would like to backfill the database with past information that was not tracked in Outlook. I cannot find a way to enter phone logs effectively

Example

On 3/1/2004, I talked with contact John Jones for 15 minutes about a pending contract

The best I can tell, I need to enter a "Note" instead and just mark the date and duration of the call into the Comments field

This seems to be counter to the idea of using BCM as a tool to record history, since no history can be entered. Only events that occur from this day forward can be recorded within the framework provided

Am I missing something?

That's been my experience, too. In theory, it would be possible to dig into
the database and create history directly there, but no one I know has done
the research to document all the relationships.
