Generally pictures by themselves will not infect a system, but other
content on the DVD might. Scan the DVD with A/V software before doing
anything, and be sure the A/V scanner is running as you copy files back to
your drive. That should alert you to any problems.

It's highly doubtful that the pictures will be infected. Just make sure they
have the proper file extensions before downloading.

Yes it is very likely the malware is on the DVD as well, odds are that it
will not reinfect your system as you are just copying pictures, not running
any programs that will activate the malware but you should scan them after
copying them to be safe. For the not so computer literate, yes you can scan
the DVD but, since it is write protected (as are all media of this type) if
malware is detected it cannot be removed.

When you put the DVD in, and autorun gives you the list of things to do with
it, close that
Go to Start> Computer >Right -click the DVD Drive with the disk in it> Scan
with your Anti-virus

Hi,

Depends. Is the malware capable of affecting that file type? Can it
recognize removable media and write a copy of itself to it? If the answer to
either is yes, then the disk may contain the bug.

Hi, and thanks to everyone that replied, i dont know if the malware is
capable of affecting the file type or not ,I had desktopvirii and it did show
up in windows photo gallery so im guessing it could infect my pictures. But I
am going to do as others suggested and scan them with my AV after I do a
clean install of vista, thanks again everyone and hope you all have a great
day!
