You should consult the manual that comes with Ghost or check the Symantec
site and read through their FAQ. However to answer your question in a
general way, firstly you cannot backup onto the same partition that you are
creating the image of. That just stands to reason. However you can backup
across a network, to removable storage such as tape drives, usb drives, CD
or DVD and to a second hard drive or another partition on the same drive. At
maximum compression the image will be approx 50% of the original. So your 30
GB of data will create approx 15GB image file(s). If you have a DVD writer
then you should be able to backup to 4 discs. That isn't too bad. DVD
writers are very reasonably priced now so you might want to look into that
option.

| Hello all. Got a question about backing up with Norton Ghost. What does it
| back up to? Can I copy the used part of the hard drive (30GB) to the same
| drive (over 50GB free), or does it have to copy to CDs? That would be a
LOT
| of CDs!
| Thanks.
