How do I back up files. Microsoft said I have a problem with Windows Xp and
my computer needs to be (erased, so to speak), and I will lose everything.

You can use a backup program like Acronis TrueImage, but you will need an
external drive to have someplace for the backup..

OR..

You can use your CD burner to save your important stuff to CD/DVD.. this
will include documents, Outlook Express dbx files, anything you have created
or saved that is personal to you..

How will you be re-installing Windows? Will it be from a recovery partition,
a CD recovery set or a generic Windows CD?
