I have an xp home edition machine that crash. I need to back up all the files
and folder. What I did was I removed the hard drive and install to the one xp
mahine that running good and configure this hard drive as slave and backup
all the files and folder. What surprise me is after performing the back up
it says that "the back up could not be completed due to an error. The report
says, that Error returned while reading to non-shadow copy backup mode.
Any idea how to recover all my data to this hard drive? I install this hard
drive as slave to the working machine because I want to have first a backup
of all the data before running the repaire installation on window xp to this
hard drive in case the repaire installation will not work, the motherboard of
the machine was damaged. Please I need some ideas on how to have a back up
first of all the data on this hard drive before going to any
procedure..thanks a lot.

Why use backup? Just use My Computer to copy all the
folders across that you wish to preserve! Make sure to
include your EMail folders too!

Try using the free diagnostic tool that you should be able to download from
the drive manufacturer's site to find out what the problem with the drive is.
It might be able to fix it.

You can also use the free XXCopy from http://www.xxcopy.com to clone the
drive to the drive on the other computer, which you can then access via
Windows Explorer.

Window xp home edition and the owner of this machine is asking me if I can
upgrade to Window Xp prof edition. I don't want to format the drive coz she
don't like to loss any program and data on it my question is, Can I upgrade
this window xp home edition by running the repair installation using the
window xp professinal Edition Cd? thanks a lot for all your help.

I'm pretty sure that you need a WinXP Home CD in order
to repair a WinXP Home installation.
