Had XP and Linux running on two separate drives. Tried to change the Monitor
resolution in Linux and then the monitor would not handle the change. Had no
rescue disc (my mistake) and now the monitor will not display the Boot
Loader so I can select windows.
Was a file called 'Boot.ini' in the root directory of C but can't see it in
Dos after booting from a W98 Boot disk.
Tried the 'R' option in windows, using the CD but that's no good.
How can I get into windows now? Can't find any file in Dos/Windows to action
to load windows.

You cannot access an NTFS partition with a win98 boot disk...

but you can get rid of your Linux boot loader (either lilo or grub)

Just boot up with the win98 floppy
and issue the command fdisk /mbr

Now you will have your windows boot loader back


but to reinstall lilo or grub

you will need your Linux rescue disk

BTW: whichever boot loader you use....opt for the text mode
 
Thank's for that Philo, it worked a charm. Got windows back but it asked me
to reinstall which I did and got it back with all the original things
loaded. However in Control panel/Add & remove Programs, I don't have a thing
showing...all gone. I was going to uninstall a program and went to use that
and found nothing. Any reason for that ?
Reinstall Linux as well but the Boot loader didn't install so nothing there
either. so need to find out why that has happened now.
