I ran Windows 7 on Virtualbox for a couple of weeks.
I now want to get back to Vista.

I have deleted the Virtual Machine and the HDD
in the expectation that my system would return to
Vista, but I am still running Windows 7.

My Virtualbox Program is apparently clear of
both items above. I am puzzled.
Is there something else I need to do.?

Thanks

I'm puzzled too. So what was the original OS?

Saucy

Original system was Vista Home Premium.
After deletion of files I have rebooted several times
and startup interface and layout are still Windows 7.

Start orb > type in:

"winver"

on the seach text bottom at the bottom of the menu.

When winver.exe appears at the top of the menu, click on it. What does it
say?

:o)

You have somehow installed Windows 7 to your computer, not just in a virtual
machine, but as the operating system for your computer.

When you boot the computer - right from completely turned off - do you get a
boot menu offering a choice of operating systems?

If not, how many harddrives does the computer have and how are they
partitioned? I ask because perhaps Vista is still on the system somewhere;
then again, it might not be.

Oh Dear....
You have confirmed my fears. I am not offered any choice of system.
There are 'C' and 'D' drives. It looks like I have done something
wrong.

No matter...I am well pleased with Windows 7 so I guess I may
well be forced down that road earlier than I thought.!
Meanwhile, thanks for all your assistance. I will 'search around'
to see if I actually have Vista still on-board.

I am very grateful to you for giving of your time and know-how to
assist me.

Thanks again.....Robert

I totally agree that the OP did exactly what you say, in part because if he
had actually installed to VirtualBox, he would have been able to return to
Vista by simply not starting the virtual machine...

Why? you deleted the virtual machine, contents and all.

Not if you want to stick with Windows 7.
Otherwise you would have to reinstall Windows Vista, either directly or on a
newly created virtual machine.
The choice is your's.
