Back to link, not top of page

when returning to a previous page, recently IE starting always going to the
top of page instead of to the link on the page - getting annoying always
moving back down to previous link - any quick solutions out there.

Provided the page does not do a timed auto refresh
the most reliable solution is to open links in a new window
e.g. by pressing Shift when using the link.
Then to "go back" all you have to do is close the top window;
the original window will be waiting there for you exactly as you left it.

An less elegant alternative which should work (at least in cases where
the first page is cached) is to set Work Offline (e.g. press Alt-F,W)
before pressing the Back button.

Did the shift trick a few times, and now it returns to the link all the times
- must have picked up a bug somewhere - thanx for you help, Robert A
