I am trying to set up internet explorer back to using a
dial-up modem. The connection wizard nor the Add option
will let me. Everything is shaded except for the broadband
choice. I had DSL but have to switch. I am running Win XP.
Thanks

I had this same problem earlier today. It was quite specific though, and it
seems that it can be caused by a few differnent situations - but maybe my
experience will help.

Scenario - I installed SP1 for XP, but machine wouldn't boot afterwards.
Booted into safe mode, and used the restore feature to bring me back to a
pre-sp install configuration. Apparently, the restore doesn't delete a few
certain key registry keys, and it causes problems. Here's the reg hack that
worked for me:

Open Regedit (Start - Run - Regedit). Navigate to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP]

Right click and export the key, to be safe!

The EAP key will have four folders under it - 13, 4, 25, 26

Delete 25 and 26.

Reboot machine.

The above seems the most likely, but refer to Microsoft KB article 329441
for more scenarios.

Good luck
