I can't comment on that other than to say that IE doesn't do it.

OK, so why wouldn't it be better that at this moment (after I've
navigated to xyz.com) the forward button still offer ghi.com and
jkl.com ?

Say you browse (in one IE window) to abc.com | def.com | ghi.com |
jkl.com.
Then you use the Back button to return to the second page you'd visited
(i.e., def.com), and then you open a link to xyz.com in this same
window:
The Forward button cannot offer ghi.com or jkl.com because your
browsing
has changed direction (i.e., abc.com | def.com | xyz.com).
Keep in mind that IE History gives you a way to return to pages you'd
visited before.

Could you please be more explicit ? I don't know what to make of this
sentence.
I know the idea is that since you didn't press back, you don't have a
forward to go to. That is, forward just undoes one or more backs. OK,
but I mean, wouldn't it be better if they let the forward pages as
they are when going to a new page ? What's the point of losing them ?

Because your Forward browing has changed direction.
Why does IE empty the forward pages list when navigating to a new
page ? Sometimes this can be annoying.
