Back end won't secure

Hi

I'm using XP and have split a database and secured the
front end using the wizard.

I have run through the wizard to join the same workgroup
and secure the back end but it is not working properly. I
have the shortcut to open the back end and that does show
the correct users and their correct permissions. However,
I can still open the database without using the shortcut
and I can do whatever I want while inside.

At this point, I am wondering if the ghost image that is
loaded on this pc is causing the trouble, or could there
be something else?

Thanks

That means that you missed some step in securing the database. If your users
can open the database without using the shortcut then it's not secured. Get
the Security FAQ, read it several times, and follow it to the letter. There
is a link to it on the Security page of my website.

Hi Lynn

I have tried this several times. It works fine on my home
computer, but on site in this training environment it is
not working for me. I have tried it more than once, but
it keeps doing the same thing.

The front end secures with no problem, but the back end,
not quite.

I have the security FAQ. I was thinking it might have
something to do with our ghost image.

Are you using the same .mdw file at your onsite training location that you
used to secure the database?

In the training environment, we started from scratch with
a fresh database. I tried it a few times with the same
result. Went home and did it again and it worked properly.

Well, I harken back to my original post that you probably missed a step in
the security process. The most likely culprits are failure to remove the
Admin user from the Admins group or failure to remove ALL permissions to ALL
objects in the database (both backend and frontend) for the Users Group.
