My apologies if this has been posted before.

If I click on the back button while surfing, it returns me to the previous
page, but at the top of the page, not where I was originally. This means I
have to scroll back down to where I was. I know this is stupid, but it's
amazing how irritating it is. it seemed to have corrected itself for about a
week and now it's doing it again. Sound familiar?

Of course. Did you try a search in Google Groups? ;)

Set Work Offline before going back. (Alt-F,W,Alt-CursorLeft)

Alternatively if you know you are going to be going back
use Open in New Window (e.g Shift-Enter)
Then you can close the new window (Alt-F4)
and be returned to the launching window
with a much better chance that your position
will be preserved (still not guaranteed especially
if you have Allow META Refresh enabled but more likely.)
