Why is it that when you go to some (not all) sites, and
you click on the back button in the toolbar, you don't go
back! The only way out (other than closing the browser)
seems to be to click the home button and then start over
(avoiding the link that refuses to close).

This seems most common on company websites that want you
to keep looking at something.

Why do programmers code this way? I don't think it's
ignorance, it's most likely money.

Thanks for any help. This is an annoyance more than a
problem.

If you know that the site works that way try using Ctrl-N
or right-click,Open in New Window before navigating there.
Then "to go back" all you need to do is press Alt-F4
(to close the window) and switch automatically to the previous
window.
