WinXP PRO SP2 IE6
The Back button show nine recently visited sites and the History Icon.
Is there a way to increase the number?
Thank you.

Launch IE and go to Tools > Internet Connections... > Increase the
number of "Days to keep pages in history"

I think that it's actually more than that (e.g. when both the Forward
and Backward lists are filled) but if Alt-V,o doesn't show me something
that I want to go back to I use the History bar's View, By Order Visited Today
(Ctrl-H,Alt-w,O)

Thank you.

Thank you for your answer, but I was looking for increasing number of
links/sites not days.

Thank you. I use the Order as well, but I was looking for something in
between, say 20 instead of 9 and without reducing the screen real estate by
the History column.
In the meantime I dug into the Help file and found that 9 seems to be the
max.
Thanks again.

Did you try filling up the Forward list and then looking at it?
It is definitely more than 9.

and without reducing the screen real estate by the History column.

You don't have to lose any space at all. Just press Ctrl-h
after you have used it. Or, if you prefer when you are in Fullscreen mode
just pull the pin on the History bar to let it Auto-hide.
