When I am browsing online forums, such as those at Anandtech, I am getting
the page cannot be displayed error alot. It only seems to happen when I do
a search. The search lists a group of articles, when I click one and look
at the articles all is well. But, when I hit the back button to go back to
the search result list, I get page cannot be displayed.

The urls for the pages end in suffixes such as .aspx?parameters or
jsp?paramaters etc. Any idea what causes this to occur?

Thanks,
BGC

The site in question may not allow caching under such circumstances, but
just in case:

IE6 SP1 fixes this problem - 319792
http://support.microsoft.com?scid=kb;EN-US;Q319792

Your settings may be incorrect - 183763
http://support.microsoft.com?scid=kb;EN-US;Q183763
Often this option is set by the web site itself, but you can try creating a
new IE cache if you wish.

The bug is that IE is not responding properly when the site disables caching.
It should not be claiming that there is an error with the web page, and it
should not be forgetting the POST parameters when you refresh. All other
versions of IE seem to behave properly. This warrants a patch.
