When I hit the back button in IE6, Internet Explorer does not take me back to
the previous page. I have to hit the back button several times to get where I
was previously. It appears to go back one frame at a time. Anyone have a
solution that would make IE return to the previous page by using the back
button just one time. I think this problem started a while back after
installing a Microsoft update.

Does this happen at ALL sites, or just one site with which you are
annoyed? For example, visit www.spampal.org, click on a link, then try
the Back toolbar button. SpamPal doesn't use interstitial pages to
navigate to the next page. An interstitial page is one between the page
you are on (source page) and the page you want to get at (destination
page). They often include a meta-refresh that moves you from the
interstitial page to the destintation page, so your real navigation is:
source page to interstitial page to destination page. When you use the
Back button, you are navigating back to the intersitital page whose
meta-refresh moves you forward to the destination page (so you're back
where you started). You have to use the drop-down list alongside the
Back button to pick 2 pages back (to get past the interstitial page to
select the source page). An old trick is to quickly do 2 single-clicks
on the Back button. That is how the web site purposely designed that
you will not easily leave the destination page by just using the Back
button or backspace key. There are other methods using scripting that
prevent easy back-paging. Complain to the web site about their rude
design.
