Finally waded through the confusion for my new video card and settled on
the AIW 9800 pro for gaming and video capture.

Now I hear all this talk about Artic Coolers for the vid chip.
Is this highly necessary or just a luxury.
Just how needed is this fan?

They are the business if you are going to overclock but at factory
settings they are not necessary. They are cheap enough and really they
should have been the fans fitted to ATI cards in the factory.

Get a cheap 256mbit memory bus 9800pro 128 mb card and add a good
capture card as an add-in.
You know what they say about "Jack of all trades...."

I've got to agree there, although my only experience of AIWs is the
whole load of problems that I've read about here.

Had mine for a while now. No problems with capture or games but don't
use the TV Tuner part...and I don't overclock.
