I've blown the second power supply on my main computer in one year.
Enough of these crappy quality generics from the local electronics
store. I've already ordered a high quality power supply from NewEgg.

Hope it's not blown anything serious. What do you call "high quality"? I
have a 500W Tegan in my rig - seems to do the job and it's *QUIET*!

Get a fuse and save some money ???

1 dolar a fuse i think thats what i did with the last one i blew the
one and only onei blew :)

I haven't been disappointed with their 400W Allied that goes for $32. As
you can see from the 131 reviews (averaging 4/5), I'm not the only one:

There's been some duds, but since it's Newegg, those can be replaced
easily.

It's a 520 watt triple fan power supply by Aspire. I was going to go
with Antec but I saw lots of angry reviews about how the thing blew up
and took out the mobo and CPU. I saw no such negative reviews on the
Aspire, so I went with that one.

It is relatively rare for only the fuse to go out without other
PSU failure point triggering that. I have many good fuses pulled
from dead psu, seldom is fuse blown even with rest of PSU dead.

Well, yes Aspire is overrated, hence crap.
If you'd only needed a 250W PSU it would suffice but 250W PSU can
be had for same $ as the Aspire. There is now a trend for some
generics to have the extra fans, larger heatsinks, etc, to make
it "seem" better and raise weight... many forums show posts of
similar if not same PSU wearing different label and purchasers
remark "it feels heavier, must be good".

One of the telltale signs of an overrated generic is the smaller
(relative to a true ~ 500W output unit's) main transformer.

Are you referring to legitimate reviews, where amp readings are taken
and the PSUs loaded to at least their full rated power
(www.silentpcreview.com , www.tomshardware.com), or are you
referencing illegitimate reviews, where only voltage ratings are taken
and a "full load" consists of nothing more than a computer running a
burn-in program or, at best, a test load resistance of just 350W
(www.anantech.com, www.techreport.com, and about everybody who tests
PSUs)? The latter outnumber the legitimate reviews by 100:1.

Any PSU with more than two fans in it was designed for styling rather
than for good performance, and Aspire is made by ToPower, which,
although it isn't the worst PSU manufacturer also isn't close to the
best.

Please point to the angry reviews of Antec supplies.
