Downloading the update locked the program and I had to Ctrl-Alt-Del to
shut it down.

That has happened to me the last two or three updates. If I change the
download site, it works fine.

I find Spybot quirky. It doesn't seem to like to multitask while it is
doing anything. I start it and leave the computer and it always
completes with success. If I try to minimize it and download headers
it locks up on me. I give it ample time and room to do its thing <G>.

Now, gentlepeople, didn't we have this at least three times before? And
what was the remedy... right to use a different mirror. JC.. the mirror
in .au always works the best <grin>, don't ask me why, but I never
experienced a hanging SS&D when downloading from there, while the
European ones either are flooded with requests, or are "quirky".

Anyway the update from the other mirror worked out perfectly!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!! (although we here still have 1.5 hours
to go).

I've never had a problem with it downloading from the default site, whether
I continue using the computer or otherwise. Must be jammy! :-)

Hi George,

Of course first a Happy New Year to you from The Netherlands.

Request: The next time you strip a message of all the text I wrote in a
post, would you be so kind to remove the header saying that "Dick
Hazeleger" said this or that? It's hardly appropriate, and it only
would confuse people. Thanks!

Back to the topic: Yesterday, downloading definitions update from the
European site... 10 sec. then it was stuck... rock solid. I didn't try
to minimize it, I didn't switch to other programs... it was being left
alone to download the updates. After terminating the program,
restarting it, going to the Australian mirror.. all went as smoothly as
possible.

Question: Does anyone know whether there is a posibility to change the
default mirror (picking one of the existing ones and make that one the
default)?

I've long felt that it would be very useful to have an option for this
in Settings. I have tried editing the ini file to do this, but it
always reverts to UniDo when I check for updates.

Complete mistake sorry. Was meant to be replying to REMbranded. Have
cancelled it, although it's a bit late.

OK... and again: a Happy New Year!

The news server I am on doesn't seem to accept cancels... I still see
it <grin>. Ah, well... I hit the 'enter' button to send a message too
early a few days back... we all make mistakes!
