I noticed a surge in updates during spring break and now summer. Maybe
some of the people researching for them are in college.

Or perhaps vice versa, requiring Lavasoft to update more frequently.

The last update brings up 73 hosts entries [CWS related] that
must be moved to the ignore list. Makes little sense to me,
nor did citing my about:blank page that I have used for years,
which had to go to the ignore list.

I'm rapidly losing interest since neither AA or SB has found
anything worthwhile in nearly a year. Safehex and proper
protection has relegated AA & SB to unnecessary baggage.

My 2¢

Does 'Safehex' refer to a general piece of advice as the one
described on the page below or does it refer to a special software
called likewise ?

I follow Clay's suggestion's to the hilt, which basically is
'don't be click-happy'. The majority of all infections, whether
virus or spyware, are user initiated.

My software, all freeware, has likely all been mentioned in ACF.

Firebird
AV's (4)
Kerio 215
WinPatrol
SpyBlaster
Hosts Manager
Magic Mail Monitor

Thank you for this list BoB. I guess you meant Firefox or
Thunderbird instead of Firebird. The list of system_and_virus
protection software I am using is almost the same, except the
firewall (payware, OT) and the mail notifier (poptray).

I use an OT newsreader so have no use for Moz or Thunderbird.

I still use Firebird 0.7+, from 8 Jan 04, which was the last
zipped version without an installer. Although v0.4, 5, and 6
worked well too, I didn't see great differences in them. I
may wait until 1.0 is ready before upgrading again since 0.7+
is working perfectly.

I am using version 0.8 without installer either. If it may help :

Mozilla firefox is a great piece of software. Apart its
featurerichness, I really appreciate the crossplatform aspect. If I
shall move to linux, all the tuning and the habits got on (windows)
firefox would be fully transposable.
