avoiding computer and profile settings

we have an remote office connected by VPN to our
headquarters. when a user of win2000pro starts the
computer take 30 seconds to apply the computer settings ,
and after type the password take another 30 minutes to
load it.

we don't use this policies, so, i want to know how can i
avoid this policies to be applied to my win2000pro
clients ?

That behavior has nothing to do with a policy but rather the client machine
is using the incorrect DNS address in it's configuration. It must use the
DNS that is hosting the AD zone information. If using any other DNS, such as
an ISP or router as a DNS address, then long logon times and numerous other
issues occur. This can happen even if you use the correct DNS in conjunction
with an external DNS. Need only use the one pertinent for AD.

Are you by any chance using roaming profiles? It could be that the
user has a large profile and is downloading it at every login.
