Is Avira considered a good AV protection program (free) or is AVG 7.5
(free) better? I've never heard of Avira.
Thanks,

Avira...antivir has better detection rates than AVG (as borne out by av
comparatives),is very low on resources, but can be more problematic in
updating ,and reliable functioning ,especially on older machines such as
98/me.Some have lots of problems ..some have none.Try it and see.

The free antivir does not have an email scanner (the premium has) ,butferrante276- said:Btw, does it scan incoming e-mail?

Dave said:I used Avast before switching to Avira. Both are good. I tried AVG,it
insisted on telling me a very old file created before any version of
windows was infected. I didn't like it.
Only problem with Avira is there's a harmless conflict with Zone Alarm
that caused ZA to show continuous activity in system tray. For this
reason I might one day revert back to Avast, but like I said it's
harmless. Dave Cohen
